The story of how Igloo AC came to be spans multiple continents and more than half a century!

Richard Lowther, the co-founder, is an immigrant from New Zealand, where he went to a rigorous and intense trade school to learn the electrical trade. After an intense apprenticeship under a very strict master electrician, he became certified and worked many projects down under before bringing his skill and expertise to Hawaii in 1980 to start a new life for the family he would raise. Pursuing the American dream, he started Sun Electric, and grew his new contracting business to become quite successful.

Richard started his son Arjuna's training when he was only 17 years old.  The 5-year hands-on apprenticeship was the best way to learn the many skills required in the trade. Father and son worked together as electricians on Oahu for many years, developing Arjuna's skills in both hands-on electrical, and  gradually incorporating more services, such as solar photovoltaic, and air conditioning.

When Richard retired to fully pursue his passion for photography and cinematography in 2017, Arjuna took full responsibility of Igloo AC as President and Project Manager. Since then he has continued to uphold the extremely high standard of professionalism, customer service and work ethic instilled in him by his father. Arjuna personally trains every team member to ensure they are fit and ready to provide our customers with the level of service we guarantee.
